The library’s capital campaign has both short- and long-term goals. Ultimately, we want to raise $1.2 million, a stretch, but as the poet Robert Browning wrote, “Ah, but a man’s reach must exceed his grasp.”
First, we must cover the costs of new furniture and equipment. No doubt, visitors will be enjoying the attractive and comfortable seating and tables for years to come. All fabrics were selected to be long-wearing and stain-resistant. Goal: $525,000
Next, we want to continue the tradition of beautifying the 3-acre parcel. The library’s lot is graced by many mature trees and shrubs. The tall coniferous specimens along the property line were planted to create a wind block, thereby reducing energy consumption. When its graceful branches are draped in pink blooms, the weeping cherry at the center of the rear courtyard delights all onlookers. The library’s Landscape Committee is developing plans for new pocket gardens and woodland areas. And young families are eager to see the installation of a simple outdoor play structure, to complement the state-of-the-art Children’s Department. Goal: $100,000
Finally, we want to ensure the fiscal integrity of the library by growing the endowments. Included here are fundraising and donor recognition costs. Expanding the library from 11,000 square feet to 18,000 square feet creates opportunities for enhanced programs and services, but with this comes higher operating costs. Revenue from the library’s endowments supports operations. Gifts to the endowments reflect an enduring commitment to the Jeanes Library and to the generations of patrons who will continue to enjoy this community asset. Goal: $575,000
The library has designed a full range of giving opportunities, making this capital campaign accessible to all.For further information about the capital campaign, contact the Library Director via email or by phone at 610-828-0441.
